Vermilion River is a wonderful whitewater spot right next door to Little Rice Lake; after a long day outdoors Lodge At Giants Ridge is a great location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. At Little Rice Lake you always meet someone from Duluth; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Fawn Lake. The annual precipitation here at Little Rice Lake is about average; the       month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Mesabi Range, not sufficient time. You can run the rapids of Vermilion River near Little Rice Lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Fortune Bay Resort - Casino - RV Park is a nice site to camp. There is a perfect hiking trail close to Little Rice Lake called the Canfield Portage; camping is available at Pfeifer                  Lake Campground. This location, the Mesabi Range, has so much outdoors exciting things. Lakes? Sure, Pfeiffer Lake is close by; the Taconite Trail is a nice hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Little Rice Lake is a beautiful lake in the Mesabi Range. A great close by hotel is Americinn - Mt Iron, Mn, and brilliant skiing awaits you at Giants Ridge. Through the months of summer at Little Rice Lake highs are regularly in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's.
