Little Gunflint Lake is a nice lake to visit. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. There are some good whitewater spots on Cascade River, and Frances Bay is pretty close. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Lutsen; the Height of Land Portage is a wonderful hiking trail nearby. A common amount of rain falls here at Little Gunflint Lake; the wettest month of the year is regularly August, that's the one

| | that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month. A lake nearby is Little North Lake; going for a hike on the Stairway Portage is always a great adventure. There is a pleasant hiking trail next to Little Gunflint Lake called the South Lake Portage. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Little Gunflint Lake has to offer, you can camp at Gunflint Pines. There's whitewater on Cascade River for all you adrenaline kick people. Stay | |

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 15 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
