     While you're here at Kauppi Lake you will meet lots of folks from nearby Duluth, and after a long day outdoors Budget Host Virginia is a delightful place to spend a night or two. Kauppi Lake is a location that is rather dehydrated usually; June is the month that gets the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. This place, Kauppi Lake, it absolutely has so much outdoors fun stuff. Do stop at Strand Lake close to Kauppi Lake, it's a pretty lake,  
   and why not go to Stephen Slimak Wildlife Pond Dam since you're here. Camping is available at Pine River Campground, and a great nearby hotel is Super 8 Eveleth.
Through the months of summer highs here at Kauppi Lake reach the 70's with night lows in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 10's; night lows in the-10's for Kauppi Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of St. Louis River near Kauppi Lake, and you'll come
 
               across a gorgeous lake called Golden Pond.
Cloquet River is a magnificent whitewater spot right next door to Kauppi Lake; camping at Ico Campground is always a splendid experience.

The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume....

We are always listed as a resort with cabin rentals. our 7 site seasonal campground that has not had an opening for several years, so it is never listed under campgrounds.
