What a nice lake Johnson Lake is. A brilliant close by hotel is Lakes Area Motel and RV Park, and playing golf is lots of fun at Arrowwood Golf Club. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff near Johnson Lake. A tremendous spot to camp here at Johnson Lake is L Motel and RV Park, and there's some out of the ordinary stuff to spot at Brophy Lake Dam in the neighborhood of Johnson Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Johnson Lake you'll probably meet
some people from Alexandria, and Lake Latoka is a nearby lake that you could pop by.
Johnson Lake is a location that is pretty waterless usually; during the month of June you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. Why not camp at Viking Motel since you're here at Johnson Lake, and a lake nearby is Taylor Lake.
After a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Alexandria is a fine place to spend a night or two; the slopes

of Andes Tower Hill are so inviting nobody can resist. At Johnson Lake during the months of summer highs are in the 80's. Lake Rachel
Rachel is a nice little sping-fed lake. Great water clarity (10 feet or so) and minimal boat traffic, so it's really peaceful and serene out there. You'll find excellent northern fishing - very abundant. Walleyes are hard to come by, but every once in a while you'll get one. The public access is tough to use - not a lot of space to turn around or to park. The shoreline is heavily wooded and lightly to moderately developed. It doesn't really feel like a west-central MN lake...feels more ''up north''. Only a handful of people live out there full-time. Most are cabins that get weekend use. No resorts, although there used to be one on ''the island''. This lake rose several feet in the 80s due to heavy rains and so there are a few stands of flooded timber, but actually that helps provide structure for fish and their spawning. Anyway, if you're looking for peace and quiet, check out Lake Rachel. It's Douglas County's best kept secret....
