A lake nearby is Crappie Lake; if you came to camp Spruce Hill Campgrounds is a good spot to do that. Island Lake is a good site of common rain; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Island Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Grandpa's Barn and Dream Cone is a fine       place for that, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Park Rapids. Good hiking is available along the Snoway 1; after a long day outdoors Americinn - Park Rapids, Mn is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this spot. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Island Lake; Howard Lake Trail is a tremendous local trail. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Island Lake reach the 80's, and through summer                  nights temperatures are in the 50's.
