Island Lake is not the only spot close by, Flekkefjord Lake is a close by lake, and you can stay the night at Tipsinah Mounds Park. You could also pop by Round Lake while you're here at Island Lake; it's nearby, and Americinn - Fergus Falls, Mn is a good place to get some rest. The warmest time of the year at Island Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. During       the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Island Lake are in the-10's. Head up to Andes Tower Hill and strap some skis to your feet.
