There are some magnificent whitewater spots on St. Croix River; going for a hike on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail is always a good adventure. Camping is available at Paint Rock Spring Campground; you can go for a hike on the Markville Snowmobile Trail. Man, is there lots of entertaining things to do in close proximity to Irons Pool. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but       if it's for you then we recommend Lower Tamarack River, and Lodge at Crooked Lake is a great location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Olive is a nearby lake that you could explore, and camping at Old Logging Trail Campground is always a nice experience. Throughout the summer at Irons Pool highs are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's;                  overnight lows in the-10's for Irons Pool. A splendid close by hotel is Americinn - Moose Lake, Mn; why not visit Irons Pool Dam while you're here.
