You'll need more than a day to look at everything Horseshoe Lake has to offer, you can camp at Pikedale Lodge; dry warm beds await you at Americinn - Walker, Mn. From a precipitation point of view Horseshoe Lake is a reasonably normal place; during June this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. | | be true. Don't leave Horseshoe Lake without first going for a hike along the North Country Trail, and lakes are such serene sites, why not check out Cedar Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Trappers Landing Lodge is a great spot to get some rest; a beautiful lake like Lauer Lake is a good place to pop by. There's brilliant hiking along the Lake Erin Trail, and there are plenty of people from Brainerd here at Horseshoe Lake. There's so much to do here at Horseshoe | |

Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Austin's Swamp is a perfect site for that; you can go for a hike on the Goose Lake Trail System. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Horseshoe Lake, and the overnight is rather chillier
of course, ordinarily in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's while Horseshoe Lake night low temperatures all through the winter are in the-10's.

Mabel Lake Campground
 | 17 miles away ...is one of our favorite Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us ... |
