Man, is there a heap of cool stuff to do right next door to Horse Lake. A pleasant site for whitewater paddling right next door to Horse Lake is Stony River; you'll come across a gorgeous lake called No-see-um Lake. At Horse Lake through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures       sink down into the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Horse Lake temperatures plunge to the-10's. Do explore Tin Can Mike Lake in close proximity to Horse Lake, it's a charming lake, and close by you hit upon the Crooked Lake Trail which is a great hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Grand Ely Lodge Resort and Conference Center is a good place to spend                  a night or two, and Horse Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Canoe Country Outfitters is a great location to camp nearby. Go for a hike on the Kelly Trail, and you can stay the night at Gateway North Outfitters.
