Hooker Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Devil Track River has a wonderful whitewater paddling spot close by; the skiing at Lutsen is splendid. This lake is so wonderful. Have a nice hiking adventure along the Long Portage, and lakes are such peaceful sites, why not pop by Fag Lake. Take a hike on the South Lake Portage, and you can stay the night at Gateway-hungry Jack Lodge.
Hooker Lake is right by the Stairway Portage.

| | You'll need more than a day to look at everything Hooker Lake has to offer, you can camp at East Bearskin Campground. If you need a location to stay Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais is a good choice, and there are other spots here than Hooker Lake, for example Lace Lake. And that's not all you can do here at Hooker Lake. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cascade River; East Bay Suites is a great spot | |

Hooker Lake gets a typical amount of yearly rain; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most while February is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. During
the summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Hooker Lake with overnight lows in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 10's while Hooker Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the-10's.

 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |

Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout.
