     Minnesota has many beautiful lakes and Heritage Lake is one of them. That right there is a heap already, but it carries on; Heritage Lake has it all. A good close by hotel is Grand Ely Lodge Resort And Conf Ctr. Near Heritage Lake you stumble on the Echo Trail which is a good hiking trail; Heritage Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Jeanette Campground is a wonderful local campground. An average amount of rain falls at Heritage Lake;  
   the wettest month of the year is regularly June, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest.
Summer at Heritage Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. During the winter highs are typically in the 10's; overnight lows at Heritage Lake during the winter ordinarily descend into the-20's. This lake is so wonderful. Visit Pageant Creek if you're here at Heritage
 
               Lake. There's so much to do here at Heritage Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sioux River Campground is a perfect site for that. The Beatty Portage is a delightful hiking trail in the vicinity of Heritage Lake, needless to say you could also have a look at Shell Lake while you're here; it's not far at all.
Going for a hike on the Stuart Portage is always a splendid adventure; in all probability you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Achundo Lake is just a very short distance away.

...spring bay cabins which are not in service but still standing to date. Now there are two resorts on the lake and a public campground. Echo lake is fabulous for jumbo bluegill and the colors of these fish are remarkable. Back in the late seventies when my father stayed at spring bay resort, my father caught the 13th bluegill ever reprted to be taken out of the lake. Al Johnson, owner of the resort at that time kept a notebook of any bluegills/sunfish ever caught due to the fact that the species was not native. The first time I went to this lake was back in 2000. I casted my nightcrawler harness out and slowly reeled my bait and felt a nice tug, thinking I had a bass on I came to the surprise to have the biggest bluegill hooked I've ever caught in my life. After measuring the brilliant, blue and purple colored gill I recorded that it was 11 inches long. The fight the gill gave was that of a good two pound black bass. The fish were spawning and I caught 8 more in that same bay that were all gigantic in size. The next trip to the lake was in 2007, and I still thought that maybe the gills...
