There are some good whitewater spots on Cloquet River, and Super 8 Cloquet is a nice location to get some rest. Camping at Big Lake Resort is always a delightful experience; if you need a place to stay Americinn - Cloquet, Mn is a wonderful choice. Hardwood Lake gets very little rainfall; June is the wettest month with most rain while February is commonly the driest month.

Summertime highs at Hardwood Lake frequently tend to be in the 70's, and the night is rather colder of course, frequently in the 50's. The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume.... |
