Hand Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Do explore Thrush Lake in close proximity to Hand Lake, it's a gorgeous lake, and camping at Two Island Lake Campground is always a brilliant experience. Hand Lake gets a typical amount of annual rain; August is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Tunmore Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to; Hand Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day

During the summertime months at Hand Lake temperatures are mostly in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 10's while Hand Lake overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the-10's. East Bay Suites, and going for a hike along the North Shore State Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. This lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling
on Cascade River, and while you're here you can take a hike along the South Lake Portage.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais is a good choice, and if the weather is magnificent,
you can go for a hike along the Height of Land Portage. Gotta ski! Lutsen is a great place to do that, and there's some flowing water nearby, Ball Club Creek is a stream you can stop at while you're here.

 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
