The Gneiss Lake Portage offers hiking at its best, and Gulf Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Sawbill Campground is a delightful local campground. Throughout the summer at Gulf Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's, and the nighttime is quite colder of course, ordinarily in the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 10's, and overnight lows       in the-10's for Gulf Lake. Skiing at Lutsen is one of those things you just have to do. Good hiking is available along the Gneiss Trail, and getting to Sea Gull River from Gulf Lake is trouble-free. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Gulf Lake; Maraboeuf Lake Portage is a perfect local                  trail.
