Near Gowan Lake you discover the Echo Trail which is a great hiking trail. Going for a hike on the Beatty Portage is always a great adventure; Vermilion River is a good whitewater spot nearby. Gowan Lake gets a normal amount of rain; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain while February is usually the driest month. Everybody close by loves skiing at Giants Ridge, and Gowan Lake is a great       place to visit for more than one day, Sioux River Campground is a great place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. There is a great hiking trail in the neighborhood of Gowan Lake called the Canfield Portage, and Lake Jeanette Campground is a good campground nearby. Summertime highs at Gowan Lake frequently tend to be in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
