Lutsen is a very popular ski area in the vicinity, and if you're here you can take a hike along the North Shore State Trail. From a precipitation point of view Goose Lake is a quite typical place; August is the wettest month with most rain while February is mostly the driest month. On a great day at Goose Lake you can take a hike along the Height of Land Portage, and if you need a site to stay The Mountain Inn is a pleasant choice. so wonderful. Eagle Mountain can be observed from Goose Lake, and paddling on Cascade River is so much fun. Throughout the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Goose Lake. Once the sun is down it falls down to the
50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Goose Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains, and whitewater paddling is nice on Cascade River.

 | Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout. Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
