     Looking for something next to Goose Lake? Man Lake is close by; Goose Lake is not far at all from Brainerd. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Goose Lake. Don't leave Goose Lake without first going for a hike along the Lake Erin Trail; dry warm beds await you at Rodeway Inn Pine River. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Trappers Landing Lodge is a tremendous location to spend a night or two, and Goose Lake is a nice location  
   to visit for more than one day, Austin's Swamp is a nice location to camp nearby. Goose Lake gets a normal amount of rain; June is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February.
There are good locations to discover along the Goose Lake Trail System, of course you could also pop by Barnum Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Go for a hike on the North Country Trail, and Deer Acres is a glorious campground nearby.
Summertime
 
               highs at Goose Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's, and the overnight is rather chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. Through the winter the highs are mostly in the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Goose Lake.

...e Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our own peaceful l...
