This lake is so wonderful. You have to check out Granite Bay when you're here at Gneiss Lake; there are splendid places to look at along the Gneiss Lake Portage. For the period of the warm days of summer at Gneiss Lake highs are generally in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into       the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Gneiss Lake are in the-10's. The skiing at Lutsen is great. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Tepee Lake, and don't leave Gneiss Lake without first going for a hike along the Maraboeuf Lake Portage. There's so much to do here at Gneiss Lake that you need to camp here for a                  while, Baker Lake Campground is a tremendous spot for that, and you can go for a hike on the Granite River Portage. Not far from Gneiss Lake, you'll locate Clove Lake which is a stunning lake. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Gneiss Lake has to offer, you can camp at Gunflint Pines.
