A lake nearby is Swollen Ankle Lake, and hiking along the Granite River Portage is perfect fun. From a precipitation point of view Fool Lake is a reasonably common location; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. You could also stop at Lucky Pay Lake if you're here at Fool Lake; it's nearby; do take a hike on the Pine Portage. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Fool Lake. Summer night lows sink down to the 50's.

This lake is so wonderful. Temperance River has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby, and Fool Lake is splendid enough
to spend more than a day at, Baker Lake Campground is a splendid local campground. Fool Lake is right by the Rib Lake Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Caribou Highlands Lodge.
