After a long day outdoors Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains is a great place to spend a night or two, and Fishhook Lake is a fine site to visit for more than one day, Devil Lake Campground is a fine site to camp nearby. You can never get enough of the brilliant skiing at Lutsen; dry warm beds await you at The Mountain Inn. And if that's not enough, there's loads more to do close to Fishhook Lake. There are nice locations to explore along the North Shore

| | State Trail, and Cascade River is a pleasant whitewater spot close by. At Fishhook Lake throughout the days of summer highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Don't leave Fishhook Lake without first going for a hike along the South Lake Portage. Lakes are magnificent; Crow Lake is a lake that's near Fishhook Lake.

 | Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout. Two Island Lake Campground
 | 10 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
