     Fat Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Sioux River Campground is a wonderful local campground, and if you get bored of Fat Lake you could also stop at close by Eugene Lake. Don't leave Fat Lake without first going for a hike along the Beatty Portage, and if you need a location to stay Elbow Lake Lodge is a fine choice. This lake is so wonderful. Some nearby water includes Heritage Creek, and there's great hiking along the Stuart Portage. For  
   the duration of the summer highs here at Fat Lake reach the 70's with night lows in the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Fat Lake temperatures fall to the-20's.
You absolutely should go for Fat Lake. Camping at Lake Jeanette Campground is always a splendid experience. Steep Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and good hiking is available along the Echo Trail. Fat Lake gets a
 
               normal amount of yearly rain; the wettest month of the year is frequently June, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

... The fight the gill gave was that of a good two pound black bass. The fish were spawning and I caught 8 more in that same bay that were all gigantic in size. The next trip to the lake was in 2007, and I still thought that maybe the gills I caught were maybe a ''fluke'' and there cant be that many in the lake. To my surprise the lake obviously had changed and we caught a entire fish basket of jumbo gills in less than three hours. The fish were spawning again (we went the same week) and every gill even the smallest one was a jumbo gill. My father mounted one gill that was 12 in long and weighed in at just over 1.75 pounds. Not bad for a lake that 30 years ago didnt really have native panfish. Also, the crappies are gigantic. Many people are starting to catch on to this and the populations of this fish I believe are declining. Back when my father first started fishing this lake walleyes and northern were caught in the dozens every day. But, they werent trophy fish but it was fun catching a stringer everyday.
