A lake close by is Nighthawk Lake, and nearby you stumble on the South Lake Portage which is a great hiking trail. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. You can run the rapids of Devil Track River in the neighborhood of Fag Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Superior Inn & Suites. Camping is available at East Bearskin Campground, and Super 8 Grand Marais is a tremendous place to get some rest. Fag Lake gets a normal

This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Long Portage is always a brilliant adventure, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Lutsen while you're here. Fag Lake is not the only place nearby, Hooker Lake is a nearby lake; there is a magnificent hiking trail nearby called the Stairway Portage. Throughout the long summer days here at Fag Lake,
high temperatures frequently reach the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Fag Lake.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |

Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout.
