From a rainfall point of view Extortion Lake is a relatively common site; the month with most of the rain is August; the driest month of the year is February. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Lutsen is close to Extortion Lake, and not far from Extortion Lake you'll come across Trip Lake which is a striking lake. Good hiking is available along the Rib Lake Trail, and a good place to camp here at Extortion Lake       is Gunflint Pines. Visit Cross River while you're here at Extortion Lake. Lakes? Sure, Lizard Lake is around here. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Extortion Lake; Pine Portage is a delightful local trail, and a good location for whitewater paddling is Temperance River. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things next to Extortion Lake. Poplar River is a magnificent whitewater spot near Extortion Lake; if you need a location                  to stay Caribou Highlands Lodge is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect nearby hotel is Americinn - Tofte, Mn. The Granite River Portage offers hiking at its best; why not camp at Baker Lake Campground if you're here at Extortion Lake. High temperatures at Extortion Lake through the warm days of summer are in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's.
