Sure, Trip Lake is close at hand; a wonderful close by hotel is Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains. The annual rain here at Extortion Lake is about average; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Poplar River offers some magnificent whitewater. What would winter be without some skiing at Lutsen,       and Gunflint Pines is a good local campground. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing things the area in the neighborhood of Extortion Lake has to offer. After a long day outdoors Caribou Highlands Lodge is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and hiking along the Granite River Portage is splendid fun. Lizard Lake is a fine lake next to Extortion Lake, and Baker Lake Campground is a great campground nearby. High temperatures at Extortion Lake                  through the summertime are in the 70's, and the overnight is slightly chillier of course, regularly in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 10's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Extortion Lake tend to be in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Temperance River; Extortion Lake is right by the Rib Lake Trail. Looking for some flowing water?
