It is very dried up here at Lake Emily regularly; June is the month that gets the most rain; the driest of the months is February. Why not camp at State Park Glacial while you're here at Lake Emily. The warmest time of the year at Lake Emily arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in

Morris Super 8 Motel is a magnificent spot to get some rest, and if you came for an overnight stay Hobo Park Campground is a brilliant location to camp. There are other places here than Lake Emily, for example Swan Lake; you can never get enough of the magnificent skiing at Andes Tower Hill. If you need a place to stay Country Inn And Suites By Carlson Benson is a tremendous choice, and Malachy Lake is a magnificent lake nearby.

Long Lake
10 miles away Central Minnesota's Rough Fish Factory, This lake is overrun with Carp & Buffalo Fish, it appears the DNR is trying to manage this lake with walleye stocking to curb the rough fish population...NOT WORKING...of course...the weeds are all gone and the bottom is always stirred up, very poor water quality. DNR Report states ''Boom or Bust fishing lake''. This basin is more bust than boom. Lake Shore land owners should rally and get the state to clean it up..Local folks tell me this used to be a Duck factory. The DNR should reconsider there management plan on this lake and return it to the shallow CLEAN basin it was in the 60's & 70's.....There are better fishing lakes than this in the county....
Lake Rachel
15 miles away Rachel is a nice little sping-fed lake. Great water clarity (10 feet or so) and minimal boat traffic, so it's really peaceful and serene out there. You'll find excellent northern fishing - very abundant. Walleyes are hard to come by, but every once in a while you'll get one. The public access is tough to use - not a lot of space to turn around or to park. The shoreline is heavily wooded and lightly to moderately developed. It doesn't really feel like a west-central MN lake...feels more ''up north''. Only a handful of people live out there full-time. Most are cabins that get weekend use. No resorts, although there used to be one on ''the island''. This lake rose several feet in the 80s due to heavy rains and so there are a few stands of flooded timber, but actually that helps provide structure for fish and their spawning. Anyway, if you're looking for peace and quiet, check out Lake Rachel. It's Douglas County's best kept secret....
Andes Tower Hill
16 miles away I had a great time when I was at Andes Tower Hill. The slopes were fun and fast. Although I thought the prices were a little to high. It is still a great place for a family to have a day of fun....
