a little tour to close by Frances Bay is a fine idea. At East Pope Lake all through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with
highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at East Pope Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Get drenched paddling on Cascade River, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the South Lake Portage.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 12 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
