Mucker Lake is a great lake near Dunn Lake; Cascade River has a glorious whitewater paddling spot nearby. Dunn Lake is a good place of typical precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. There are other places here than Dunn Lake, for example East Otter Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Grand Marais. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. There's so much to do here at Dunn Lake that you need to camp here for a while, East Bearskin Campground is a brilliant site for that; Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains is a great spot to get some rest. I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
