| | Lake is frequently a relatively dried out site; through June this area sees the most rain; February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. There are nice sites to discover along the South Highbanks Trail System; if you need a site to stay Trappers Landing Lodge is a good choice. Go for a hike on the North Country Trail, and Six Mile Campground is a tremendous local campground. If only every place had this much outdoors enjoyable | |

Mabel Lake Campground
 | 11 miles away ... our favorite Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our ow... |
