Hiking is a popular thing to do around Dogleg Lake; Maraboeuf Lake Portage is a nice local trail, and camping at Gunflint Pines is always a great experience. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Lutsen is close to Dogleg Lake. There's good hiking along the Gneiss Trail; a tremendous place to camp here at Dogleg Lake is Sawbill Campground. The Pine Portage       offers hiking at its best, and paddling on Temperance River is so much fun. From a rain point of view Dogleg Lake is a pretty common place; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is February. At Dogleg Lake through the summertime months highs are in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
