Dirty House Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Swamps like Blue Lake in close proximity to Dirty House Lake make for fine sites to take a look at, and you can go for a hike on the North Country Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Nisswa-Days Inn is a wonderful site to get some rest, and camping is available at Fifty Lakes Campground.
Dirty House Lake is not the only location nearby, Lee Lake is a nearby lake, and lots of people

| | from Brainerd come here. And if that's not sufficient, there's a load more to do close to Dirty House Lake. Good hiking is available along the Goose Lake Trail System; a lake nearby is Lily Lake. At Dirty House Lake through the summer highs are in the 80's, and the overnight is quite chillier of course, frequently in the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Dirty House Lake are in the-10's.

...sota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our own peaceful lakeside... |
