Minnesota has many beautiful lakes and Devils Track Lake is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais is a tremendous site to spend a night or two, and Devils Track Lake Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out. Camping is available at Grand Marais Recreation Area, and golf can be played at Gunflint Hills Golf Course. At Devils Track Lake during the summertime months highs are in the 70's, and the

| | nighttime is a bit cooler of course, typically in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 10's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Devils Track Lake temperatures descend to the-10's.
Binagami Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore, and some nearby water includes Monker Creek. Why not camp at Go-fer Cabins Trailer Court while you're here at Devils Track Lake, and Devils Track Lake is right by the North Shore State Trail.

point of view Devils Track Lake is a pretty common spot; most of the rain falls throughout August; the driest of the months is February. Take a hike on the Long Portage; dry warm beds await you at East Bay Suites. Having a perfect
time at Devils Track Lake is painless. Do have a look at Monker Lake close to Devils Track Lake, it's a charming lake, and get wet paddling on Devil Track River.
This lake is so wonderful. Lutsen has nice slopes and a friendly staff, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Stairway Portage.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
Trout Lake

Trout Lake approx 14 Northwest of Grand Marais,MN and then 4 miles east on #140 (Trout Lake Road)to the lake. Mink and Kimball lakes are also accessed by this road. BOATERS BEWARE - the public landing is a ''carry in landing'' meaning no trailered launches here. If you prefer you can launch at Trout Lake Resort for a fee of $5 to $10 but their landing is shallow as well and very rocky. NO BIG BOATS can get in and that's the way the folks at the resort like it. A boat with a ten h.p. will do the trick. In fact the folks at Trout Lake Resort will rent you one if they are not reserved by the resort guests for ~$35 for 1/2 day. The like is super clear and boasts lake trout and rainbows. We caught one rainbow on a lazy fishing/swimming expedition and another boat on the lake caught a small laker and one rainbow. This lake would be real fun for trout in the spring when they are near the surface but they can be found by trolling in 20 to 30' along the shore lines in late summer as well as the deeper spots.... |

Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout.
