Cleaver Lake is always a pleasure to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Cleaver Lake without first going for a hike along the South Lake Portage, and Cleaver Lake is a tremendous place to visit for more than one day, Two Island Lake Campground is a tremendous place to camp nearby. During the summertime at Cleaver Lake temperatures are typically in the 70's while overnight lows are typically in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are

| | in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Cleaver Lake are in the-10's.
This lake is so wonderful. A good close by hotel is East Bay Suites; why not head up to Lutsen and strap some skis to your feet. The annual rainfall here at Cleaver Lake is about average; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. So much enjoyable stuff to do at Cleaver Lake, so little time. Cascade River Campground is a good campground nearby, and since you're here, you could also have a look at gorgeous Ozada Lake. If you need a site
to stay Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais is a tremendous choice, and there are magnificent spots to explore along the North Shore State Trail. Cascade River is a splendid whitewater spot in close proximity to Cleaver Lake; Arena Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
