    A visit to Lake Clayton is always a good idea. Why not camp at Paint Rock Spring Campground while you're here at Lake Clayton; if you come at the right time of year, St. Croix River offers some great whitewater. Clayton Lake Dam has tremendous water scenery and it's right next door to Lake Clayton, and Lodge at Crooked Lake is a delightful place to get some rest. Yeah, come here to Lake Clayton for a great time. There's some flowing water nearby, Hay Creek is  
   a stream you can pop by during your stay; unsurprisingly, this is a glorious vicinity for people who like lakes, Clayton Lake is a lake in close proximity.
This lake is so wonderful. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Kettle River; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Buggert Lake. The Markville Snowmobile Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you need a place to stay Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a pleasant
 
               choice.
This lake is so wonderful. A glorious spot to camp here at Lake Clayton is Old Logging Trail Campground, and there's splendid hiking along the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail. The yearly rainfall here at Lake Clayton is about average; the wettest month of the year is generally June, that's the one that rains the most; February on the other hand is the driest. High temperatures at Lake Clayton through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Lake Clayton are in the-10's.
