     If you're here at Lake Clayton, you could check out Hay Creek, and a brilliant spot to camp here at Lake Clayton is Paint Rock Spring Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend St. Croix River; hiking is a popular thing to do around Lake Clayton; Markville Snowmobile Trail is a good local trail. Good hiking is available along the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail, and if you  
   need a place to stay Americas Best Value Inn is a wonderful choice. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Lake Clayton is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Old Logging Trail Campground is a nice local campground, and Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a great place to get some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. From a precipitation point of view Lake Clayton is a quite normal place; of all the months in a year June is the one with
 
               the most rain, and the driest month is February. Throughout the summertime highs here at Lake Clayton get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Lake Clayton are in the-10's.
This is a great neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Buggert Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and not far from Lake Clayton you get some great water scenery at Clayton Lake Dam. Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Kettle River, and you're almost certainly interested in lakes, Clayton Lake is one of those close by.
