    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Minnesota you can check out Clayton Lake. There's so much to do here at Clayton Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Old Logging Trail Campground is a fine place for that, and of course Hay Creek flows through this neighborhood. Get dripping wet paddling on St. Croix River; Clayton Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Paint Rock Spring Campground is a wonderful local campground. This lake  
   is so wonderful.
Clayton Lake Dam is not far at all from Clayton Lake; you can go for a hike on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail. From a precipitation point of view Clayton Lake is a quite common location; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. You could also stop by Lake Clayton since you're here at Clayton Lake; it's nearby, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a
 
               great place to spend a night or two.
So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Clayton Lake, too great to be true. Nearby lakes? Sure, Monson Lake is in the neighborhood of Clayton Lake; perfect hiking is available along the Markville Snowmobile Trail. All through the long summer days highs here at Clayton Lake get into the 80's; the night is a bit chillier of course, mostly in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 10's while Clayton Lake overnight low temperatures throughout the winter are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Kettle River, and dry warm beds await you at Lodge at Crooked Lake.
