Summertime at Clayton Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Clayton Lake. Near Clayton Lake you find the Markville Snowmobile Trail which is a splendid hiking trail; Old Logging Trail Campground is a splendid campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful.       Why not check out close by Hay Creek while you're here at Clayton Lake, and Clayton Lake Dam is beautiful. Clayton Lake truly is in the middle of a wonderful outdoors paradise. There is a tremendous hiking trail next to Clayton Lake called the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail; a good nearby hotel is Best Western Northwoods Lodge. A lake nearby is Lake Olive. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on St. Croix                  River; you can stay the night at Paint Rock Spring Campground. Whitewater paddling is great on Kettle River, and after a long day outdoors Lodge at Crooked Lake is a brilliant place to spend a night or two.
