This lake is so wonderful. There are great places to look at along the Gneiss Trail, and Chip Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Sawbill Campground is a nice local campground. If you come at the right time of year, Temperance River offers some great whitewater, and of course Chub River is a scenic stream that is worth       stopping at. Now, you may feel that's a load but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Chip Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains, and you can go for a hike on the Maraboeuf Lake Portage. During the warmest time of the year at Chip Lake highs are commonly in the 70's, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, regularly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 10's with temperatures at Chip                  Lake dipping down into the-10's through winter nights. Chip Lake gets a common amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
