Sure, Buck Lake is close       at hand, and there are some splendid whitewater spots on Lower Tamarack River. A normal amount of rain falls here at Chain Lakes; the wettest month of the year is typically June, that's the one that rains the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. Going for a hike on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail is always a great adventure; Chain Lakes is a nice site to visit for more than one day, Riverview Campground is a nice site to camp                  nearby.
