Poplar River has a glorious whitewater paddling spot nearby, and if you came for an overnight stay Crescent Lake Campground is a good spot to camp. From a rain point of view Caribou Lake is a pretty common place; through August this area sees the most rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime highs at Caribou Lake regularly tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 10's
with temperatures at Caribou Lake dipping down into the-10's all through winter nights. Why not camp at Poplar River Campground if you're here at Caribou Lake, and whitewater paddling is great on Cascade River.
If only every place had this much outdoors enjoyable stuff, what a great planet it would be. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Lutsen is in the neighborhood of Caribou Lake, and you can go for a hike on the North Shore State Trail. You'll locate a

gorgeous lake called Ward Lake near Caribou Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Caribou Highlands Lodge. Good hiking is available along the Rib Lake Trail, and since you're here, you could also stop by pretty Bigsby Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors The Mountain Inn is a wonderful place to spend a night or two; don't leave Caribou Lake without first going for a hike along the Honeymoon Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Murmur Creek flows through this neighborhood.

Echo is a nice lake to stop and drop a line when in the Schroeder tofte area. It is just up the road from Nine mile lake campground and has an easy to catch supply of small trout. Two Island Lake Campground

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf...
