From a rainfall point of view Buck Lake is a reasonably typical place; during the month of June you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the period of the summertime months highs here at Buck Lake get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall       down into the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Buck Lake are in the-20's. Stay the night at Sioux River Campground; a great nearby hotel is Lodge At Giants Ridge. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Vermilion River, and there is a good hiking trail nearby called the Canfield Portage. What a place this is for outdoors people. You'll need more than a                  day to explore everything Buck Lake has to offer, you can camp at Mc Kinley Park Campground, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Echo Trail.
