Buck Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is Oak Lake, and camping is available at Minneapolis Southwest KOA. An afternoon playing golf at Island View Golf Club is always a diversion. Buck Lake gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February.

| | site to camp; AmericInn Waconia is a brilliant place to get some rest. Mud Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by; dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel -Waconia/Mpls/St.Paul Area. At Buck Lake through the summertime months highs are in the 80's while overnight lows are typically in the 60's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and night lows during the winter for Buck Lake tend to be in the 0's.

Pelican lake is a great location for panfish through the ice. The lake is suposidly slated to be drawn down to improve the waterfowl habitat in the next year or two. The sunnies and crappies are big and all over. The northern pike run pretty large as well as the largmouth bass. I have never summer fished the lake so I cant comment on that. The lake also supports a good waterfowl population and is a great early season (especially the youth hunt) duck hunting location. The lake is very big with lots of prime hunting spots and still plenty of resting areas for birds. The lake is a little treacherous bein big and shallow the waves can get big quick. There is also an ample supply of submerged dead heads and rocks to dent and tip your boat and eat your prop and lower unit. Be careful and you will have a good hunt. The lake is hunted very heavy so it pays to do some homework in setting your spread and learning to call well. The birds always seem to respond as long as you're better than the guys around you.... |

For the record, this isn't accurate. Buck Hill is a minimum of 45 minutes away from Lake Lucy. The Lake also has no public access for boats, the only way to get to it is to portage through Lake Ann Park.... |
