     Get drenched paddling on Poplar River, and if you need a site to stay Caribou Highlands Lodge is a magnificent choice. This lake is so wonderful. Crescent Lake Campground is a perfect local campground, and the Rib Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Lutsen is near Brule Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains. Lakes are such serene locations, why not explore Whip Lake next to Brule Lake,  
   and a tour to Cone Bay is always a glorious idea.
This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Cascade River. Summer at Brule Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Brule Lake temperatures drop to the-10's. A common amount of rain falls here at Brule Lake; August is the month that gets the
 
               most rain while February is regularly the driest month.
Brule Lake is a pleasant spot to visit for more than one day, Gunflint Pines is a pleasant spot to camp nearby; hiking along the Height of Land Portage is wonderful fun. Any time is a glorious time at Brule Lake if you go for the outdoors. South Cone Lake is a good lake near Brule Lake, and Brule Lake is right by the Pine Portage.

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf...
