A pleasant close by hotel is East Bay Suites, and there is a nice hiking trail nearby called the Great Cherry Portage. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Bogus Lake has to offer, you can camp at Go-fer Cabins Trailer Court, and whitewater paddling is great on Kadunce River. This lake is so wonderful. Beaches are great; and Paradise Beach near Bogus Lake is no exception, and if you need a spot to stay Best Western Superior Inn & Suites is a good

| | choice. All through the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 70's at Bogus Lake while nighttime lows are regularly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Bogus Lake sink into the 0's.
Going for a hike on the Vaseux Portage is always a wonderful adventure, and Section Fifteen Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look at. This lake is so wonderful. In the event | |

that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Brule River. Stay the night at Kimball Lake Campground; a spree to Grand Portage National Monument is recommended.
Bogus Lake is a good spot
of typical rain; September is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is February. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff near Bogus Lake. Near Bogus Lake you locate the Lesser Cherry Portage which is a perfect hiking trail; if you're here, you could also take a look at pretty Trout Lake.

Trout Lake
 | Trout Lake approx 14 Northwest of Grand Marais,MN and then 4 miles east on #140 (Trout Lake Road)to the lake. Mink and Kimball lakes are also accessed by this road. BOATERS BEWARE - the public landing is a ''carry in landing'' meaning no trailered launches here. If you prefer you can launch at Trout Lake Resort for a fee of $5 to $10 but their landing is shallow as well and very rocky. NO BIG BOATS can get in and that's the way the folks at the resort like it. A boat with a ten h.p. will do the trick. In fact the folks at Trout Lake Resort will rent you one if they are not reserved by the resort guests for ~$35 for 1/2 day. The like is super clear and boasts lake trout and rainbows. We caught one rainbow on a lazy fishing/swimming expedition and another boat on the lake caught a small laker and one rainbow. This lake would be real fun for trout in the spring when they are near the surface but they can be found by trolling in 20 to 30' along the shore lines in late summer as well as the deeper spots.... |
