Do pop by Blackwater Lake Dam if you're here at Black Water Lake, and you'll find a striking lake called Rush Lake. If you came for an overnight stay Deer Acres is a tremendous place to camp. If you need a spot to stay Trappers Landing Lodge is a good choice; the Goose Lake Trail System is a perfect hiking trail nearby. The amount of precipitation that falls at Black Water Lake is close to the national average; June is when you get the most rain here, and February

| | is when it's the driest. Austin's Swamp is a good local campground, and at Black Water Lake you always meet someone from Brainerd. At Black Water Lake during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Black Water Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. find the North Country Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Black Water Lake. Going for a hike on the Lake Erin Trail is always a splendid adventure, and a scenic lake like Blackwater Lake is a wonderful place to stop by.

Mabel Lake Campground
 | 17 miles away ...ta campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sites˙ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longville˙ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville or Hackensack to buy your˙ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our own peaceful lakeside s... |
