     A perfect spot to camp here at Black Lake is Birch Knoll Campground, and there's fine hiking along the Markville Snowmobile Trail. Upper Tamarack River is a good whitewater spot near Black Lake, and Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Duluth-South is a glorious location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Black River, and a perfect nearby hotel is Duluth Spirit Mountain  
   Red Roof Inn. Throughout the summer highs here at Black Lake get into the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. All through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 10's; overnight lows at Black Lake all through the winter ordinarily descend into the-10's.
