In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cascade River, and if you've had enough of Birch Lake, Little Rush Lake is close by. All through the warm months at Birch Lake temperatures are regularly in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 10's, and night lows during       the winter for Birch Lake tend to be in the-10's. If you need a place to stay East Bay Suites is a magnificent choice; Birch Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, East Bearskin Campground is a wonderful local campground. What a location this is for outdoors folks. Take a hike on the Height of Land Portage; you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Stairway Portage. Whitewater paddling is nice on Cascade River. There's so much to do here                  at Birch Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Gateway-hungry Jack Lodge is a pleasant place for that. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Grand Marais, and hiking along the South Lake Portage is glorious fun.
