If you like skiing, you're in luck; Giants Ridge is close to Big Rice Lake, and you can stay the night at Pfeifer Lake Campground. A lake nearby is Pfeiffer Lake, and don't leave Big Rice Lake without first going for a hike along the Taconite Trail. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Canfield Portage, and Vermilion River has a perfect       whitewater paddling spot close by. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Mesabi Range. There are plenty of people from Duluth here at Big Rice Lake, and Budget Host Virginia is a good location to get some rest. Throughout the months of summer here at Big Rice Lake, high temperatures usually get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime                  at Big Rice Lake temperatures dip to the-10's. You could also explore Fawn Lake since you're here at Big Rice Lake; it's close by. There's so much to do here at Big Rice Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Hinsdale Island Campground is a magnificent site for that. This lake is located in the wonderful Mesabi Range. If you like the outdoors, you'll fancy Big Rice Lake. If you need a site to stay Americinn - Mt Iron, Mn is a delightful choice, and whitewater paddling is perfect on Vermilion River.
