This is no spot for people who don’t like to have a good time. Camp Du Nord is a pleasant campground nearby, and there are splendid locations to look at along the Echo Trail. After a long day outdoors Grand Ely Lodge Resort and Conference Center is a nice location to spend a night or two, and Lapond Lake is a       nearby lake that you could stop by. Throughout the summertime, highs generally are in the 70's at Big Rice Lake. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 40's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 10's with winter lows in the-20's overnight here at Big Rice Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is pleasant at Giants Ridge, and you can go for a hike on the Crooked Lake Trail. Big Rice Lake is a good place to visit for more than one day, Silver Rapids                  Lodge Restaurant is a good place to camp nearby; dry warm beds await you at Budget Host Motel Ely.
