Summer brings highs in the 70's to Big Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's, and nighttime lows all through the winter for Big Lake tend to be in the-20's. After a long day outdoors Budget Host Motel Ely is a fine spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Grand Ely Lodge Resort And Conf Ctr is a splendid location to get some       rest; the Crooked Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. Stay the night at Silver Rapids Lodge Restaurant, and don't leave Big Lake without first going for a hike along the Stuart Portage. Big Lake is a good site of common rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here; the driest month of the year is February.
