A great place to camp here at Beta Lake is Gunflint Pines; lakes are such peaceful sites, why not check out Creeper Lake. For the period of the long summer days at Beta Lake temperatures are typically in the 70's while overnight lows are generally in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Beta Lake temperatures sink to the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. a night or two. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. There are other locations here than Beta Lake, for example Alpha Lake, and nearby you find the Rib Lake Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. The snow is splendid
at Lutsen, and Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains is a brilliant spot to get some rest. Beta Lake is a good spot of typical rainfall; during August this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 13 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
