    Why not stop by Berg Lake if you're passing through these parts. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Lodge At Giants Ridge is a pleasant choice, and get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of St. Louis River. An average amount of rainfall falls at Berg Lake; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. At Berg Lake through the long summer days highs are in the 70's, and all through  
   summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. All through the winter the highs are mostly in the 10's, and night lows in the-10's for Berg Lake.
There's just no way someone can get bored here at Berg Lake. There's so much to do here at Berg Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Gilbert Sherwood Forest is a delightful location for that, and Berg Lake is not far at all from Duluth. You'll stumble on a pretty lake called Lake Albert near Berg Lake, and
 
               you can stay the night at Ico Campground.
You can run the rapids of Cloquet River close to Berg Lake, and since you're here, you could also have a look at pretty Dinham Lake. Eveleth Super 8 Motel is a wonderful spot to get some rest, and hey, Gotta ski right? Giants Ridge is a great place to do that.

The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume....
