Hiking is a popular thing to do around Bedew Lake; South Lake Portage is a good local trail, and there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Cascade River. Do take a look at Mash Lake in close proximity to Bedew Lake, it's a wonderful lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Cascade River. There's delightful hiking along the Height of Land Portage, and Bedew Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Gunflint Pines is a good local campground. This lake

Summertime highs at Bedew Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. Through the wintertime highs are typically in the 10's; night lows in the-10's for Bedew Lake. I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
