Hiking is a popular thing to do around Barker Lake; Sunrise Ferry Hiking Trail is a great local trail, and Barker Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Golden Acres is a magnificent local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Mud Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out, and get       yourself into a kayak and hit Apple River. Trollhaugen is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood; if you come at the right time of year, St. Croix River offers some magnificent whitewater. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the area right next door to Barker Lake has to offer. While you're here at Barker Lake, you could also stop by beautiful Maple Marsh Lake, and an interesting thing to take a look at close to Barker Lake                  is Kelly Farms Dam. This lake is so wonderful.
